ATTENTION: This post will be a long post and full of my rants, so for those of you who don't like to read long-meaningless post, please proceed to another tab/page on your browser. Thank you :3

みんなお久しぶりです~

So recently I just dyed my hair (again) with a deep brown color.

FYI, I really really love doing experiment with my hair color. Actually I've been interested with hair dyeing-thingy since middle school, but it's impossible for me to dye my hair because of the school's regulations, so all I could do just staring longingly at hair color rack whenever I went to a supermarket lol

The first time I dyed my hair was on my second year at university. I dyed my hair with a deep brown color. I was pretty disappointed with the result, because somehow the color didn't come out, like, AT ALL. My friend suggested that I should have bleached my hair first because my original hair color was jet black. I knew that if I had bleached my hair, the color would come out just like it should be, but I didn't want to risk my hair (which is pretty thin on the roots) to become worse than it already was, so I decided not to bleach my hair. Besides I heard and read many stories about bleaching your hair, and somehow I got an image that bleaching your hair is not a comfortable experience; for your hair and for yourself. Damaging my hair with hair color is enough for me, so no need to make it worse with the bleaching.

Ever since that I've been changing my hair color from deep brown to lighter brown, burgundy, a bit reddish-brown color which-name-I-forgot, and then back to brown. So far I really like brown color because it is the one that matches well with my skin tone, AND I'm tired with people staring at my hair lol

And when I went to Japan last year, I found this cute hair color called Beauty Labo Whip Hair Color.

Beautylabo Whip Hair Color in Sweet Brown
The packaging is extra cute, and at first glance I thought it is an  instant mix of ice cream lol (I think that's why on the side ”たべものではありません” is written, which means "This is not a food" lol). I bought it and dyed my hair with it. The color I chose was Sweet Brown. I knew it was a light brown color but I never expected the color to turn out SO BRIGHT. Like, really really bright brown color, almost orange. I myself didn't realized it at first (I know, stupid me) until I got tired with people screaming (literally) when they saw my hair and decided to check the color chart at the website. So it turned out that the ”明るさレベル” or "Brightness level" of Sweet Brown color was 4 out of 5 stars, which means it is quite bright. I didn't realize it when I bought it. Lesson learned; always read the label carefully whenever you buy hair color.

After about 5 months my hair grew longer and I am too lazy to do touch up for my roots, so I decided to dyed it back to deep brown color, considering that I also (hopefully) will graduate this year, and I want to get a job at a Japanese company, that's why I need to dye my hair back to its natural color (actually my natural hair color is jet black but in Islam it is stated that dyeing your hair black is haram, so yeah, I just chose the closest and safest hair color). Thankfully at the same time my friend got a chance to go to Japan (shoutout to Fie!) and so I asked her to buy me another Beautylabo Whip Hair Color. This time I checked the website first and I decided to use Bitter Chocolate.

Now, let's move to the unboxing part!

If you buy Beautylabo Whip Hair color, these are what you will get:

From left to right: After color conditioner, Gloves (the one in the small carton box), Base water (bottle), Powder, Direction Sheet

So, according to the direction sheet (which is written in Japanese; I don't know if you bought it in another country, is there any direction written in English or its country's language?) First we have to pour the Base Water first to the shaker.

Base Water. No stench of ammonia whatsoever, but DON'T BE FOOLED!!!
After that, we have to mix it with the Powder, which is the powder-thingy (I know, I suck with explaining things) that gives the color.

Powder. It looks like a sachet of instant coffee.

Now, here comes the tricky (and exhausting) part: you have to SHAKE the shaker 30 times in an up-and-down motion. Really, it is such a hassle. Not only it is exhausting, but if you don't do it correctly, the color won't mix well. And the substances won't form a whip (as it should be) but rather a creamy mixture just like a common hair color. The whip will only formed at the top.

It's not a chocolate sponge cake mix, okay?
Now, this is the part that I hate. When you opened the packaging and mixing the base water and the powder, the smell was sooo great, it's like a fruity'flowery smell that came out from the packaging. However after you shake the mixture and opened the shaker, the STRONG stench of ammonia would greet you. Trust me, I almost cry when I smelled it.

After the whippy-thingy-mixture is formed, now it's time to open the shaker and apply it to your hair! I just scooped it with my glove-covered hand and put the whip to my hair. Oh by the way, I used the hair-dyeing kit I got from Daiso. It comes with gloves, hair comb, ear-caps and a hoodie to cover your clothes. Love it!

After you apply it, leave your hair for about 30 minutes. For those of you who have thin hair, leave it for about 25 minutes, but for those of you who have quite thick hair, leave it for 35 minutes.  After that, you can wash your hair twice with shampoo and conditioner. And NOT with the conditioner that comes out with the set, but rather YOUR own conditioner. The after color conditioner from the set is used only AFTER you wash and towel-dry your hair. No need to wash it again with water, it's a leave-in conditioner.

If you are finished with all the process, then you can dry your hair and IT'S DONE! Enjoy your new hair color! :D

To be honest after I used this product twice, I don't think I will use it again for third time. The process itself is exhausting (with moving the shaker 30 times, really it was such a hassle). And the substances itself is a bit difficult to apply, with us having to scoop it, there is a high chance that it will fall and makes your clothes or anything around you dirty and stained. Or maybe that was just because I didn't mix the mixture well, because if the mixture is formed as a whip (like I did for the first time with the Sweet Brown color; that's why I decided to use it for the second time. Turned out it didn't work out so well lol), I must say it is quite easy to apply it :)

Soooo I guess this is the part where I need to show you my before-after picture, right? Well, unfortunately I didn't have that much photos of myself. I'm not really a fan of camwhoring; although I sometimes lik eto take selca, but I always end up feeling embarassed and then delete all the photos I took OTL. Maybe later after I finished searching my friend's Facebook for some photos of me (another shoutout to Fie; she really likes to take some candid photos -__-), I'll post it as soon as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and feel free if you want to share your hair-coloring experience! :D

[UPDATED]

Finally I find the urge to post the photos of my hair color (after 3 months? OTL), so here they are~ Pardon me for the crappy quality of the photo, my phone's camera is not that good.

Here is my hair with Sweet Brown color
It's orangeeeeeeee
And this is my hair with the Bitter Chocolate color

Now this is what I call brown

Both photos were taken under natural lighting, no flash, and no filter. Hope it helps :)
